Taking It Back During Lent
mystagogy:
With fewer Tumblr Catholics during Lent, don’t forget to keep an eye on the tag!

my extremely liberal college that basically hates all catholics and christianity in general just tweeted about the Ash Wednesday services at our Newman Center! THIS IS AWESOME
thank you JESUS!
tumblr is so dead without all my Catholic friends...
oh well I guess that just means I should pray for them since I can’t see their posts everyday until Easter!

That’s my virtual ash. I’m gonna go get my real one soon. :)
i just took an online mental health screening and it said there is a good chance that i am clinically depressed. i think i knew it this whole time, but it’s much scarier when medical professionals agree.
now i just need to figure out what to do about this, because i don’t want to live my life like this anymore…i just want to be happy again
flashback
i remember when i was younger i used to always say i was going to give up broccoli for lent, because i hated it and wanted an excuse not to have to eat it at dinner.
Lent
So this Lent I decided to do two major things!
#1. I am going to stop using the internet on my phone and just trying to use my cell phone less overall
#2 is a little more complex. I have been going through a tough time lately so every time I feel hopeless and just want to cry my eyes I am going to pick up my Bible and read some encouragement and then I will either journal about it or post about...
I will search for the lost and bring back the strays. I will bind up the injured...

To everyone who’s giving up Tumblr for Lent: Bye!
To everyone who’s evangelizing Tumblr for Lent: How about posting a picture of your Ash Wednesday forehead? Tag it #smudgespam and then we can have the “Smudge Awards” later. :-)

I’m staying on Tumblr during Lent, but for those of you leaving, we’ll miss you!
Praying for every one of us to become closer to who God would have us be.
God wants you to know...

…That you are not alone. God is always with you, seen or unseen, saint or sinner. Giving you air, supporting your footsteps, nourishing you with sunshine, God is here with you. The separateness you sometimes feel is an illusion, in truth you are never alone.
scared
i’m scared
i’ve never felt like this ever before
i don’t know what to do
my one friend who knows about how i’ve been feeling lately seems to have completely forgotten what is going on
today i literally wished a car would just hit me, because that would be easier than having to get through all of this
that scares me…i mean who has thoughts like that?
i just want...
I keep waiting for it all to stop and get better,...
Mom: What's wrong?
My mind: I used to do so well in school but I'm not anymore.
My mind: The people I call friends, aren't my actual friends.
My mind: I'm constantly feeling alone.
My mind: I'm starting to look at myself different.
My mind: Nothing feels the same anymore.
My mind: I feel like I'm going to fail at anything I try to do.
My mind: I haven't been eating that much and I'm hungry all the time.
My mind: I feel like no one cares about me.
My mind: I just wanna sleep all day and never wake up.
Me: Oh nothing I'm fine.
Lent
So i still don’t know what to give up for Lent
Here are my ideas, because if I don’t write them down right now I will forget them
1. Cell Phone: clearly it’s not entirely possible for me to give up my cell phone permanently but I want to become less dependent on it. I would keep it away during class and anytime I’m with friends. Basically, I will only use it when...

Do you want to explain why you care so much about forcing contraception and abortion inducing drugs while most of the country doesn’t have Dental, or even vision coverage? It seems that if it was health care you truly cared about you’d have forced those coverages first. Especially since pregnancy…

I’ve never been to Catholic UG before, but I only hear good things about it. I hear it’s amazing! And I know they always have Christian musicians there.
“The first part of the evening is Eucharistic adoration, and begins with Vespers (Evening Prayer). This is the universal prayer of the Church - prayed by the Catholics throughout the world in every time zone and in every...
